At this time of the year (November 5 to December 23) Chatsworth House will be dressed up for the theme “Deck the Halls.” The two lower grounds of the House that is open during this period will be decorated with trees, garlands and candles that bring to life such classics as The Holly and the Ivy, Silent Night and Jingle Bells. Visitors can dress up in seasonal costumes as angels, kings and drummer boys. They can listen to the story of the Good King Wenceslas or engage in craft activities of yore. The 105-acre Chatsworth garden has been evolving for more than 450 years and is still changing. You can find great water features such as a 300-year old Cascade, trough waterfall among the rockery and the enormous gravity-fed Emperor fountain. Then there are other attractions such as a huge maze to get lost, the rockery and the rose, cottage and kitchen gardens, and over five miles of walks. Feel free to walk on the grass and bring your dogs (on leash please) along.
At the farmyard and playground you can observe farm animals being handled and play in the Woodland Adventure Playground with great water and spiral slides.

The Paddock House Farm features six self-catering farm style cottages with varying accommodation from one to three bedrooms. The bedrooms can accommodate different numbers of persons from one person to three. All the cottages together can house up to 40 persons while the individual cottages are great for groups from a couple to a ten-person group.
The self catering facilities include a country kitchen equipped with electric oven, microwave, refrigerator / freezer, electric kettle and toaster, supplemented with full sets of crockery and cutlery. Some of the cottages have separate dining areas and you can also eat out in the garden where you might find a picnic bench and barbeque facilities.
Some of the cottages have the bedrooms at ground level, which is convenient for the elderly and other persons with movement-handicaps. Others offer special features such as the Oak Cottage with a large church-style window and gallery that offer a great view of the Manifold Valley, and the one-bedroom Cherry Holiday cottage near the car park ideal for a couple seeking privacy.
