What does a Derbyshire holiday mean in terms of the enjoyment it provides? It means getting close to nature in one of the most beautiful places in UK, the Peak District National Park. It also means getting to know how the lords and ladies (and common folk) lived in historic times. And it means an opportunity to get plenty of exercise in the form of walking and cycling among clean environs.
And what’s special about Ash Holiday Cottage? Here’s an extract from an actual testimonial: “…so spacious and so very well equipped. They had marvellous views over the surrounding countryside and there were so many walks and houses of interest within a few miles.”
The Peak District National Park
“England’s Golden Triangle” includes some of the finest landscapes and wildlife protected specially for the present and future generations. The Peak District National Park offers stunning views of the countryside and many man-made treasures of the past.
The Staffordshire Peak District (where the Ash Holiday Cottage is located) is great for lovers of outdoor life. Dovedale, the Roaches and the Churnet Valley are great “natural playgrounds.” Towns like Leek in the region give you a glimpse into what a “bustling market town” looks like. The “world capital of ceramics,” Stoke-on-Trent is not far away.
You can take long forest walks, or cycle along traffic-free cycling trails (one of which runs along an abandoned rail track) and participate in quaint festivals unique to the villages and towns located in the Park.
The Park also features historic castles from the middle ages including the Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and several others. These are the places that served as the settings for Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice and The Other Boleyn Girl among other famous works.
Peak District is the place where Industrial Revolution took off and you can see heritage mills and museums of the inventions and developments of the revolution period.
