Paddock House Farm Cottages, Your Base for Exploring the Peak District National Park
Peak District Holiday Cottages
Peak District Holiday Cottages Situated as it is in the Peak District National Park, the Paddock House Farm is an ideal place to do your exploration of the park. The Paddock consists of six farm structures converted into holiday homes, located in a spacious 35 acre ground with 5 acres of gardens, picnic areas and barbeques and play areas for children. It is also near the Alstonefield village that values heritage.
In this and the next few pieces, we look at what the Peak District National Park offers. The Peak is the world’s second most visited one, after the Mount Fuji National Park in Japan. National parks extend over hundreds of square miles, over 500 in the case of the Peak, thus setting them apart from parks in urban areas.
The Park Cares for the Environment and Heritage
While most of us visit a park for the relaxing experience it provides, the Peak District National Park has an additional objective, to educate people on the importance of environment to life on earth. You can learn what the Park does about environment and climate change, and also what you can do to make a difference.
The National Park works to protect wildlife and the beauty of the natural environment within its confines. It also encourages people to visit and learn to appreciate these. The Park also cares for heritage, supporting communities to preserve these.
You can see and learn about many buildings and places of architectural and historic interest in the Park. You can also visit villages, markets and towns in the Park that provide glimpses into an earlier time.
Fantastic Sights
In the Park, you can have spectacular views of nature that you cannot see anywhere else. Vast expanses of open spaces, hills and valleys with rivers flowing among them, rugged and steep cliffs, and strange (and sometimes huge) rock formations are just some of the things that you can see only in protected places.
Standing (or sitting) on a tall cliff and seeing miles of the scenery all around can be an uplifting experience. And walking along a remote trail hearing only the sounds of the wind, water and wildlife can create a great sense of peace and harmony. At other places, the sheer beauty of the scenery can mesmerise you making you forget about your mundane life.
A Living Place
In addition to the plants, trees and wildlife, the Park has many communities living and working inside. There are villages and towns where people have been residing for generations, and markets where people buy and sell things. There are also festivals that might appear a bit strange, like a football match that is played over days across the whole town.
Glimpse into History
Then there are the historic castles and halls that have been renovated by Dukes and Duchesses who conserve them to show (the public) how the powerful lived in a bygone age. The magnificent fortified structures and the huge gardens inside can create a sense of awe in us commoners. They can also show the children how the things they learn in history books actually look like. Peak District Holiday Cottages.
